Not going to lie – today’s tune is big. It’s got a massive beat complimented by vocals from Swedish rapper Henok Achido. My only problem with the song; I can’t put my finger on what it samples – special megatunes prize to anyone who can tell me. This shit is so fresh it doesn’t have a youtube video! Follow the link though – it‘s worth it…
With Halloween just round the corner Monsters is a dark and somewhat menacing song to get you in the mood. Connor Youngblood is a 20 year old musician from Dallas, Texas – but don’t be fooled by his age, his interesting lyrics suggest he is mature beyond his years. Monsters blends electro, dubstep and pop resulting in a delectable albeit anguish ridden gem. This is an artist I will definitely be keeping my eye on.
I’ve got the Friday feeling. This song has the Friday feeling. Thanks to avenge the virgins for bringing this track to me – it has been on repeat pretty much since midday, distracting me from things I probably should be doing. .. That’s all I’ve got today – have a good weekend.
When this song starts playing I am always hit by the same worry. I worry the girls voice at 0.38 is going to piss me off and ruin the song. But fortunately, the song develops and I warm to the girl with the strange voice. Happens every time.
Miike Snow has taken a very enjoyable original track, worked their magic, and created a bouncy uplifting tune I cannot help but like.
A short post on talented songwriter Nnecka today. Her latest album – Soul Is Heavy – has gone under the radar somewhat, but nevertheless contains some bangers. No Doubt is but one…
Whilst on the subject on Nnecka; it would be rude not to mention Chase and Status’ remix of her track Heartbeat. What a tune.
On Friday night megatunes had the pleasure of seeing Miami Horror perform their album Illumination at Shoreditch’s X0Y0. MH’s performance stole the night and highlighted the quality and depth of what has to be one of the best albums of the year. Here are just a few examples of their instantly pleasurable electro…
Today’s post is all about 60’s supermodel Pattie Boyd. Whilst not a musician herself, Pattie is said to be the subject behind some of the greatest love songs of all time. At 26 she married The Beatles’ George Harrison and later went on to marry Eric Clapton. Although she had a brief affair with the Rolling Stone’s Ronnie Wood, what proved to be the end of her marriage with Harrison was a guitar duel between Clapton and Harrison. A drunken Clapton is said to have defeated Harrison to win Pattie over. This is the stuff of rock and roll mythology. But what can’t be denied is the charisma and beauty Pattie must have possessed to inspire two truly great artists of her generation.
I love the Beatles and this – written by Harrison – is one of their best.
Mr Clapton wrote Wonderful Tonight while he was waiting for Boyd to get ready one night. No big deal.
She’s also responsible for this
